"PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA."

-Audrey Hepburn

PLACES

SCOTLAND

I was in Scotland for a week and a half. I spent most of my time in Edinburgh and Dalkeith. Dalkeith was a small town with fun shops and good bakeries.  When I spent my time in Edinburgh I visited many shops and museums. I also spent some time touring Ediburgh Castle. That was pretty awesome.  I also took a haunted tour of Old Edinburgh, that was really fun. My favorite part of Scotland was visiting the Highlands. They were so beautiful. There were mountains, lochs, and endless hills of green.

ENGLAND

When I was in England I spent most of my time in London. There was a lot to do in London. I went to Harrods, I went on the London Eye, I climbed to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral, saw Big Ben, went into Westminster Abbey, you name it. It's great being able to experience such popular places.  I also went on a bus tour that brought me to Stonehenge, Bath, and Windsor Castle. That was quite spectacular. But my favorite part of London was seeing Wicked the Musical

IRELAND

When I was in Ireland I visited both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. When I was in the Republic of Ireland I stayed in Dublin. Most of Dublin consisted of fun shops. There were also a few historical places you could visit. While there my friends and myself found a brochure with various bus tours. The one we chose to go on a day tour of Northern Ireland. It was probably one of the best choices I've ever made. The natural beauty of N. Ireland was unbelievable.

FRANCE

When I visited France, I spend a week and a half in Paris.  Paris has to be one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to.  Don't let the bad things you hear from other people about Paris fool you. You'll hear that it's dirty, boring and that the people there are rude. Not true. For one of the busiest cities in the world it is very well kept. The types of architecture will see there, are SPECTACULAR! Lastly, the people that live in Paris are a lot nicer than you think. You just have to give them a chance. Also, when you're there, say "bonjour", "merci", or other simple French phrases. Just attempting to speak their language will make them so thankful, and bring a big smile to their faces. In my opinion, you haven't live until you've visited Paris.

GERMANY

When I went to Germany I visited Berlin, Freiburg and Füssen. When in Berlin I visited the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, and Sachsenhausen concentration camp.  In Freiburg I took a hike in the beautiful Black Forest, and had the most amazing brats. Lastly, the most exciting time I had in Germany was when I went to Füssen.  On my birthday I saw Neuschwanstein Castle with a couple of my friends. Seeing that castle in real life was like a dream.

ITALY

I visited 3 different cities when I was in Italy. First I went to Rome with a friend of mine and we saw the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Palatine Hill. We also spent some time in Vatican City seeing St. Peter's Square, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. When in Verona I had the chance to see Arena di Verona and Juliet's House. Lastly, I spent a day in Venice. The group I was with went on a tour, and my favorite part had to have been seeing all of the gondola's and how they were one of the main forms of transportation in Venice. All the places I visited in Italy were amazing, but nothing was as amazing as the delicious gelato I had everyday.

POLAND

It may seem strange to some people, but ever since I learned about World War II and the Holocaust, I always wanted to visit Auschwitz. A few of my friends from my study abroad trip wanted to visit as well, so the four of us stayed in Krakow for a few days. While in Krakow we attended an Easter church service at the Holy Trinity Basilica. We obviously didn't understand a word of it, but it was really neat experiencing a different culture in such a way. The day before we left Poland, we visited Auschwitz, and it was an experience that no words can describe. It helped give me a whole new perspective on the Holocaust. Despite the sadness associated with Auschwitz, I am really glad I went there.

NORWAY

When I was studying abroad I traveled Europe with 24 other people, but for our final free travel I decided to go to Norway on my own. I never expected that the first country I'd be traveling to by myself would be Norway. I was afraid it would be somewhat difficult since I did not understand a single word of Norwegian. But once I arrived in Ã…ndalsnes, I knew I made the right decision. The people there were nice, and spoke English just fine. The best part of it all was the beauty that surrounded me while I was staying there. The mountains and fjords were gorgeous. I am most definitely going back there some day.
